Today, I developed exactly what the idea and goal is.
manifesto:
Glint is a pair of AR glasses that can detect faces, listen in on conversations, and save data about your interactions with people.
features:
- face detection
- recording with speaker detection
- ar display on one or two eyes to show relevant information about people around you
- bluetooth connection to cellular device (iOS for now)
rough bom (not in order):
- option 1 for display
- 1-2x OLED Microdisplays, ex: https://www.displaymodule.com/products/0-23-inch-micro-oled-display-640x400?variant=48967467860161
- lense with prism
- option 2 for display (likely too expensive or hard to source)
- optical waveguides
- nordic bluetooth chip
- fpga (w/ risc-v?) for camera and display control (needed to keep up with speed)
- 2x coin batteries
- touch bar (not sure how to implement yet)
- (at least) dual microphone system
- inner ir tracking camera (important! not many glasses have tracking and this is needed here)
- outward camera(s? zoom would be nice to have)
- imu or gyrocscope(? maybe for mk2)

Haven't really worked much on Glint due to focusing mainly on qualifying for Undercity first. However, today, I took some time to research optical projectors and waveguides for the display of the glasses. I found four companies: DisplayModules, Lumus, WaveOptics, and Dispelix. There wasn't much info regarding purchase, so I shot off an email to each asking about prices as well as if any discounts could be had.
Approx Time Spent: 30 minutes
